Guidelines for the Day of Baptism
The following are a list of items that are essential on the day of Baptism:
Godparents:
The role of Godparents is to support the parents in bringing up your child in the Catholic Faith. For this reason, Godparents must be practicing Catholics who have been confirmed.
Baptismal Shawl:
The Baptismal Shawl is required at the celebration. It symbolises our new life in Christ and being embraced by God’s Love.
Baptismal Candle:
The Baptismal Candle is lit from the Paschal candle, which is a sign for the Risen Christ. The Baptismal candle is a symbol of the living presence of Christ in your child. This light is entrusted to you to be kept burning brightly so that your child will always walk in the ways of the Risen Christ.
Baptismal Certificate:
A Baptismal Certificate will be sent to you after your child’s baptism. Please keep this in a safe place as proof of baptism may be required at a later stage in your child’s life. (Baptism Certificates available from the Parish Office €5).
If you require any further information please see Fr Paul, Deacon Tim or Ciara at 11am Sunday mass.
