St Mochta’s Bethany Bereavement Group

altSt Mochta’s Bethany Bereavement Support Group was set up in 2010 and aims to help and support those who are bereaved and grieving.   The name Bethany comes from the visit of Jesus to Mary and Martha on the death of their brother Lazarus.  Bethany Bereavement support helps people to come from the darkness of losing someone into the light of hope so they can cope with these changes in their lives.

Volunteers have completed their Bethany Bereavement Training and have, themselves, experienced loss and bereavement.  Although grieving is a natural process, sometimes people may need the support of a trained volunteer who will listen with understanding and empathy. It is a strictly confidential service.

A monthly Group meeting for the bereaved is held in St. Mochta’s Pastoral Centre at 19:30 (7:30 pm) on the last Monday of each month with the exception of Bank Holidays and Christmas when the meeting is brought forward to a more suitable date.  Information regarding any change in date or time will be published in the Parish Newsletter at least one week in advance of the meeting.  No appointment is necessary to attend these meetings and everyone is welcome.

Grief can come at any time and there’s no time limit on dealing with it, therefore, Group Members are available to help you by One to One sessions, Home Visits, Telephone or email support. If there’s no reply when you phone, please leave your name and contact details and a volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible.
